Here's what I did!
I had these lamps in the living room, and these are the shades I got to go with em.
I thought they looked a little bland.
So I added the toile wrapping paper to them and now they look like this!
They're not perfect, but I LOVE THEM.
This is how I did it...
You will need:
Scissors
Whatever paper you like
Tape
Lamp shade
Pencil
(See, who can mess up with scissors and tape?! Not even me!)
Lay the paper flat on the floor, with the patterned side down.
Put the lamp shade on the paper, also upside down.
Take your pencil and stick it down in the shade, tracing the top opening of the lamp shade.
Lay the shade down on it's side, being careful to keep it lined up with the circle you've drawn for the top opening. Then draw a line at the bottom of the shade where it hits the paper. If you enlarge the picture, you can see that I've traced the shape of the shade by flipping the shade over to the next side, drawing another line, etc. Do this until you meet up with the original line you drew.
You can't see it very well, but this is what it should look like, I don't know why but for some reason the circle isn't in the middle, but it's just a rough guide.
Cut along the OUTSIDE of the line you traced. If you cut on the line, you'll not have any paper to wrap around the bottom of the lamp shade.
Flip the shade right side up and drape the paper over the top. Make sure you have enough paper to go to the bottom of each side of the shade and roughly cut out a hole at the top.
Go around the edges of the shade, folding the paper under and taping it.
Flatten it down, cut off the excess...tape it all up, and waa laaah!
A CAYUTE toile shade that I LOVE (did I mention that?).
And it's not perfect, when you turn on the light, you can see the stuff you've folded under, but not the tape, so make sure you cut everything straight and that all the sides are even!
I really hope this was an understandable tutorial!

I swear, it always looks better if someone else does em. : )
how adorable!!
I'm going to try this when I get home.....
Brilliant!
Super, super cute...I love me some toile! I really like the tape idea because I've used glue before and it didn't turn out so well.
