Cursing Crafter takes on more furniture...

Okay.

Alright.

Deep breath.

I'm ready to show you my first project.

First off, do you remember last year when I re-did my table and chairs? Yeah? Well. After that I decided I needed a long, long break from spray paint, furniture, etc. I'm just not cut out to make cute and quick transformations like a lot of you crafty people.

Trust me when I say that I do cuss like a freakin' sailor when I start to have problems. Which is usually about 30 seconds in. Mostly it consists of me calling inanimate objects f-words. And other really naughty things. Mostly under my breath. It's all sort of silly, I mean, do you know how a can of spray paint or a drawer could be a whore? I don't either.

Anyprofanity. When I was done with the table and chairs I wanted to do the hutch. I don't have a nice picture of it before.

(i had yanked all the stuff off i didn't like and still didn't like it)

It's one of those fake wood thingies. Like most of my furniture because I'm too poor to afford a really nice wood one. The only nice wood furniture I have is my table and chairs. Everything else is fake, fake, fake.

I wanted to paint the hutch to match the dining set, which is actually real wood.

Well. Painting over that fake laminate stuff is not the easiest thing.

First I took these wooden dowels out of the top area where that teapot is...they were there to hold plates. I thought they looked stupid so I took em out. Then there were 4 knob thingies right below that shelf to hang coffee mugs. Also stupid. So I yanked em out.

Then my husband and I jockeyed that beast out into the garage, aka: my destruction area studio.

here it is intact before i took the doors off

here it is all nekkid.

primed...well, basically primed. i know it's not even, but i'm lazy and i knew i'd be painting over it.

Now imagine it getting tons of coats of black paint. Because I don't have any pictures of that process.

I give up on the picture taking way before I'm done.

Here it is finished and moved back into the house. For some reason when you take a picture the light gets all weird and it looks blotchy...? I don't know. But it doesn't look splotchy in real life. Swears.

oh! look! my favorite part! i painted the glass window up there with chalkboard paint so i could scribble on it. yeah. my handwriting sucks. oh well.
And, yeah, imagine pretty stuff on there. I have some stuff to stick on it, but I haven't yet because of the other project I'm working on. I'm just so freakin' tired of projects. For the love of all things holy can I pleasebedonewithitalready??

Cursing Crafter Rating? TCC = Triple Curse Craft.
Lots of cussing but it turned out pretty well.
I'll show you parts of the other project this week...it takes a lot of small projects to equal one big re-do. Well, big for me, anyway.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend and didn't set yourselves on fire! Have a great Monday, since lots of you probably have it off!

Good job on the make-over. I like doing these types of projects.

I rarely complete a craft project without dropping a few cuss words and calling inanimate objects some lovely names.

Looks much better! Inanimate objects are certainly whore, and even f@ckers at times. :)

Yesterday when a kitchen knife totally attacked me and sliced my finger open, it was an MFer!!!!

Great job! I honestly can't even spray paint a piece of furniture. Why do you think I became friends with Terri? Hahaha. Kidding.

No, seriously... I'd be cussing and yelling at everything if I tried to do that.

It looks so good Macey! Wow - that is going to look so good in your house.

I am sick of projects too. I have been working 4 days straight on them and had a meltdown with my husband tonight - lol.

Good luck with yours this week!!!

XOXO

I love it!! I wish I had a place where I could destroy and redo furniture. Of course after I destroyed it, it probably would never be right again. You are very crafty and awesome.

WOW! Looks like you did a great job. I love the chalk board. Smart thinking!

macey, you kick ass!!! you did an amazing job. i love the little part on the top where you can use chalk. so creative and fun. enjoy it!

You're my hero! I never have the guts to try to refinish furniture, so I end up waiting and buying new stuff. I've probably wasted a ton of money that way. I think what you need to do is come down here for a visit, and you can help me re-do my guest room furniture. Yup. That's the solution. What? You don't want to travel down here to perform slave labor?! Fine! Whatever...

I think my computer/internet/skills aren't letting me comment on your blog. If this goes through, I'll put in a real comment.

Mrs. Petrie said...

Yay! It worked. I tried to put in like three comments yesterday and my bastardy computer was preventing it. Nice job on the furniture painting. I have lots of cabinets that need painting, but I'm not sure when that will happen. :)

BTW, I'm pretty sure all fabric store employees are taught to admonish patrons' children. It has happened to me more than once in different stores.

And, how is your little guy doing? Probably harder on mama than on him, right?

Where does this project rate on your cursing crafter scale??

Looks great! I don't remember you table/chair re-do last year. I'm off to check it out too. Are you loving it or what? Now the fun part!

That is really so very cute!!!! I don't know why I don't attempt these things. The end result is wonderful!

I'm so jealous of your motivation. All my crap is fake too.

Also...I totally heart your handwriting!

Can't wait to see more projects!

Sara said...

That looks awesome!!! Love the chalkboard wall. And your handwriting isn't ugly.

Well done, my dear!

Wow! What a transformation! I love it, Mimi! Nice job!

I painted my dining room table and chairs black a few years ago. It is SO much work, but SO worth it!
