Do you know what I'm even talking about?
See.
I know this girl.
Actually, I don't really know know her. I know of her. I recognize her when I see her. I see her a couple times a month.
I don't even remember her name. For the life of me, I can not figure it out, and I know I knew it once.
btw: they say if you repeat someones name after they tell it to you that you'll remember it. not so. not for me.
Anyway.
A couple weeks ago I see her coming out of a bathroom in the place that I usually run into her and she sees me too.
She immediately gets a huge smile on her face (and might i say, she's quite pretty and super nice) and holds her arms wide out.
I smile a huge smile at her and inside my head is this: warning! warning! hugger! hugger alert!!
It's not that I'm opposed to hugging. I just don't. Hug.
Like, I'll hug when I see someone I haven't seen in forever. Or before someone leaves who I won't see for a while.
Those are the kinds of instances that I hug in. Some people hug all the time, though.
I'm thinking she must be one of those hug all the time people.
Do you hug a lot?
Or are you a "warning; hugger alert!" person?
How many times can you use the word "hug" in one post?
I hope all of you Motha Hugga's had a great Mother's day!

I am a hugger. In the moment, it doesn't seem weird or awkward, but now that we are discussing it. Hugging in weird huh???

I'm a hugger and a toucher too. People tell me that I hug "for real" and not the fake hug kind.
If I walk past your desk I will often put my hand on your shoulder. Not in a creepy creeper kind of way but in a mommy kind of way. We deal with a lot of stress at our work and I think that a human touch when you are being screamed at on the phone can be a real nice thing.
Who do I hug? Most guests who come in to our home. Fair warning.
Not as much since I hurt my arm. I hug Sam all the time though.
I'm a hugger mostly for the awkward moments it creates. Like when someone is sticking out their hand and you're going in for a hug? Super awk.
I am a hugger when it comes to my family and a few friends.
Oh and I am a drunk hugger, I will hug anyone after a few drinks :)
I hug in instances where I know the people really well--kind of like your hugging times, but not really a constant, serial hugger.
Don't feel bad about remembering names--Nick is awful at it. I once found a shirt for him that said: Hi! I'm, I'm...(you'll have to forgive me I'm terrible with names). We've gotten pretty good at just asking, cause remembering is next to impossible.
i'm a hugger. there. i said it.
so if i ever get to see you, be warned, i will hug ;)
My cousins growing up were super duper huggers! Oh my goodness! and criers too! If they were headed back home after hanging out with us for a few hours, they would cry and hug like they'd never see us again. I don't what their parents told them at home... Saying goodbye was emotionally draining with them...
I CAN be a hugger, but only on MY terms...
I am completely a hugger. Not all the time and not for everyone. I'm a picky hugger. But I would TOTALLY hug you every time I saw you so I would need to wear a warning for you. It's better than kissing. There are some people in this shit hole town that kiss you when they see you. I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING!!! That freaks me out.
I think I rarely hug as a greeting, unless it's family or a long time friend, but hugs are often exchanged upon departure.
I'm going to try to tell this story in a short version and then you can see if I'm a hugger or not.
3 weeks ago. Went to Target for eye cream. Lady that works the cosmetic section redirecting people from Neutrogena accosts me and shows me awesome No. 7 stuff. We talk, I buy.
Last weekend. I go to Target for skin care for hubby. Lady accosts me again. We talk for 20 minutes. She shows me awesome NON-Olay skin care. I buy it. I ALMOST HUGGED her. Touched her arm awkwardly instead and thanked her instead.
What do you think?
I'm a hugger of close friends...but have often had the surprise hug from others. I always feel like a bad actor when that happens.
I'm an in-betweener. I hug the close friends I don't see on a daily basis. Have you been to the east coast? They do the cheek kiss! Yeah, never got used to that!
Ha ha! I love the story.
I am not a hugger either and first graders try and hug me all the time. I tell them I don't hug and they still forget. I have to push them away by their forehead.
You know I was never the hugging type until I got older. I don't hug everyone I see, and when I do hug it is a good friend or family. As for being the hugee, I think it depends on who is doing the hugging. How many times can you say hug in a comment. My kids hug their friends. They hug their teachers. And of course they hug me. Hugs. ;)
PS Repeating names doesn't work for me either.
Hahaha, my local radio station uses "hugger" to replace the F word. So that's what I think when I read "Mother Hugger" I like to hug when I haven't seen someone, or when they're leaving-but not all the time. I have to kind of force myself though, I'm not touchy by nature.
Except when I'm drunk. If I'm drunk I'm a hugger. Touchy too. I'm what you'd call a lovey drunk. haha
I'll hug good friends and family when I first see them after a long time without seeing them (warning, I may try to hug you when we eventually meet up...), and I'll hug them again before we part ways. I DO NOT feel the need to hug every time I see friends that I see on a regular basis.
So, I totally get you.
I'm a hugger. =)
First of all, I am horrible with names. Why is that?? I need to try harder I think. And even when I do think I know a name, I'm always second guessing myself until I'm sure that I'm wrong. Anyway.
I like to hug. But not all the time, and I, too, am a picky hugger. There are people that I hug all the time, and people that I kind of half-way hug while cringing. That doesn't sound very nice, though, does it?
i'm not a hugger. affection kinda weirds me out. except with chris and G and my nephew. that's it. I'm not about the hugging.
There are times when I've even surprised myself by giving an unwarranted hug, but mostly I just hate people...LOL!
i love hugging my daughter! :) btw LOVE the visual!! naw, i totally understand. PLUS people in the midwest kinda keep to themselves. oh, that's right, you don't live in the midwest..hehe...maybe you were misplaced at birth! kidding. i'm big on people respecting your space and your moods. hmmm! i hug friends! we hug in my family more but hardly did growing up.
What? Hugging is awesome! ;)
I used to like to hug...I think it is something that you have to keep doing or be around...I now only hug family and as there is only 3 of us that is not alot...I will allow myself to be hugged, but I find myself a little stiff about it...I no longer do the hugging though...maybe that is a shame...
I'm a hugger and a personal space invader and I like to touch you when we're talking and I will more than likely kiss you good-bye.
Ummm HELL NO!
I have no problem hugging friends and certain family members but for the most part I can do without physical touch!
I've decided that since I started the evening with margaritas, then had 2 glasses of red wine and now finishing it off with bourbon tea, I'm going to read all of the posts that I've missed by you and comment on all of them because you are the only one who will appreciate drunk google reading.
I hug but with the same guidelines as you. Meaning, if I come see you, expect a hug at the beginning and the end of the trip. If I move to France, and we see each other every flippin' day (or no less than once a week), you may get a fist bump, a high five, or a slap on the ass. Otherwise, this is my dance space, and this is your dance space, Baby. No spaghetti arms. And that's just how we roll around these parts. Unless it's Neal. And then I will hug until I've completely invaded his dance space and we've put the dirty in dancing.
I'm not really a hugger. Have we hugged? I'm sure we have.
I am not a big hugger. Today I ran into someone at the library and when I went to say goodbye she gave me hug. It's not that I think hugs are evil, I just don't initiate them and sometimes I'm quite awkward about it. Perhaps I'm afraid they are trying to pick my pocket.
warning...i am a hugger.
i expect 2 hugs while you are here, hello and goodbye.
anything that happens in the middle would just be a bonus...
or awkward
whatever.
I am a total hugger. Would NOT hug you if you didn't remember my name for goodness sakes, but I do hug a lot. It's OK if you call me mother hugger :)
I hugged you!
And if I saw you often, I would still hug you every time!
Sorry. Deal with it.
Mother hugger sounds like a curse word.
I will hug if I'm not going to see someone for a while or if I'm seeing them again after a long time... but not someone I will see tomorrow.
I am definitely a hugger, but I am also very aware that many people aren't and I'm good at reading body language. I don't hug people unless I know darned well that the other person is okay with it.
I love hugs. I'm even known to hug people who don't like me, hehehe.
I won't hug someone I don't know... or barely know. Nuh huh. But generally? Yes, I'm a hugger. I guess I'm depraved for the human touch.
I am a hugger with my family....all of us are
Other people? Not usually
HUGS to you MIMS
heeeeeeeeeeee
watch out
that is all
I'm a hugger and I would DEFINITELY hug you!! I would probably tackle you. Betta watch out if we ever see each other in person! ;)
My husband's family are huggers AND kissers. I still cringe every time his mom comes in for the kill. The head turn is just no defense for that kind of space invasion. I mean really, we blow kisses from across the room in my family and sometimes that's too close!!! I fear Brennan is a hugger and I know he is a kisser.
I'm going to totally hug you when we meet!!! So watch out!
I'm like you, not much of a hugger, especially when I don't know people that well.
Haha! I like Motha Hugga, sounds a little obscene but is totally not! I'm not much of a hugger either - only those times that you mentioned and on special occasions.
