Forks in Pictures

The last couple weeks have been heavy around here. Before everything exploded and I had to refrain from curling into a little ball of bawling, pathetic, useless mush, we went to Forks. If you don't know what I'm talking about here; this is what was consuming me and, really, still is.

Remember Forks?

Just me and the girls. We were ready for a crazy fan-girl weekend. Or at the very least a crazy girls' weekend where we made fun of the fan-girls. (not jk though. never jk. she's the coolest fan-girl i know.)

I have to come out of the closet here and say that, for me, the trek to Forks is more about the girl time and fun with the gals than Forks itself.

If you put a gun to my head and made me choose, I would say that although I'm ardently Team Jacob in the Twilight series, I'm definitely more of a Hunger Games girl. I love me some goofy teen romance, but in the end, I'm not so much a twihard as others.

And you all know that Team Charlie is my thang.

Don't get me wrong, of course I'm a fan. Who else travels all the way up to the Olympic Peninsula besides someone who has a little teeny bit of crazy fan-girl in them?

Yep. I'm a nerd.

So, onto the pictures.

the infamous sign

the sign for forks h/s. interestingly enough, it's on the chamber of commerce lawn, not the h/s.

the "forks h/s." again, interestingly enough, not in forks. actually in kalama, wa, a long way from forks.we stopped here on the way to forks and since it was a fri. afternoon, school was in session. jess refused to get close to the school, "we're gonna look like creepers, there are kids here! we'll get arrested!" something like that, anyway. haha! i was able to make her mama pose with me, though!

no trip to the area is complete without making it to the treaty line!

the danger was high that day.

the sunset at first beach was gorgeous.

this is a blurry phone picture of me at the "Bella's Birthday Board." people post notes to bella on here. lots of "how could you treat jacob that way?!" "team jacob!" and "team cullen!" notes. seriously. so, what else would i post on this board? that's right. "team charlie!!" i'm pointing at it here.

when we came back to town, look who had showed up. that's edward's volvo, ladies!

we also ran into alice and jasper. poor jasper just can't seem to get his hair right. notice the orange tint?

and, because forks would like you to know, they are not all about twilight, here my friend ellen and i are posing in a hollowed out tree trunk. they were first a timber town, you see.

So, as you can tell, I didn't go as overboard with the picture taking as I did last year. I actually had enough for 2 posts in 2010! There were a few changes in Forks...not a lot, but a few that were pretty disappointing for us.

But we did have a fabulous time, just chillin' out, bein' girls, shopping and having fun, so I would call it a success!!

Good thing you posted the picture of the "Welcome Twilight Fan" or I would have had no idea what you were talking about!
Yep I have never read a twilight book..feel asleep during the first movie.

But... I do love a great girls weekend. :)

I love that you got to go to Forks and I'm jealous that JK is going too. I'm Team Jacob and a lot of people aren't a big fan of that aspect but whatev. I loved Hunger Games too. I would probably rather tour their stuff. Shhhh! Don't tell JK.

I loved your pics though! =) xoxo

What a fun trip!

Truth be told, I'm a bit jealous.

I'm team hottie, it makes no difference to me. I loved them both for different reasons.

That is a trip that I would love to do one day!

This little town probably never saw any sort of tourist traffic before Twilight came out, did they?

I still gotta check out this Hunger Games series. I think I've heard about 200 people blog about it. :o)

Oh what was disappointing?
I have never been there but the town reminds me a lot of where I live in the Sierra mountains. We have lots of lakes but no beach like they have. I would love to go sometime. Thank you for sharing your pics with us.

I did submit my post to Hate mail but have not heard back, never sent them anything before so not sure how long it takes. Several people told me I should so we will see if they share it.

Thanks again for all your support.

Yay! I'm glad you had a good time, and the weather stayed nice for you. I know nothing about Twilight, but I heard they have Bella's truck and house around there, too?

All trips are about the time spent together, right?

I have never been to Forks. Actually, having lived in WA most of my life, I really have never been to the Olympic Peninsula. I've been to Port Orchard for a parade in high school, and just to Ocean Shores for beach trips. How sad is that?

Great pictures! I bet the high school gets a lot of Twihards. :D

I must admit I really do like Twilight- but Hunger Games is right up there with it.. So excited for Breaking Dawn in Nov and Hunger Games in the spring!

You guys had such a great time! I need to get me a group of girls to go visit the field of dreams place!! I am so team ... what was his name?... oh! Kevin!

I'm with you on the girl time, because I've never seen Twilight so none of that would make any sense to me!

This just made me even MORE excited for my trip!!! I can't wait to be there...and be the crazy fan-girl that others point and laugh at...'cause you know I will be and that I don't care. #noshame

I don't think I could love two stories more than Twilight and The Hunger Games. I guess the difference is that Twilight was my first love and I'm so attached to the characters now that we have movies and conventions and such. Also, it's tangible. You can actually GO to Forks and walk where the Cullens have been...and roam where the wolves have roamed (because they're real and they have...duh). It's a little different with Hunger Games. You can't just take a trip to District 12 or the Capital. I would like to see where they filmed the movie though...that would be SO cool!

LOVE the pics!!!

I"m not a big fan and I don't know what the hunger games are....but it sounds like a diet book and I'm done with diet books.

Looks like fun!

Okay, so don't tell anyone, but I've never read any of the books or seen the movies. BUT, I am all about a fun weekend away! Especially when it's with sweet friends. It looks like you had a great time!!

Oh it's Team Jacob at our house, and Team Edward though I am suspicious that Team Edward is just to get under Team Jacob's Fur. haha. If I were 20 years younger I think I would choose Jacob. :P

I am also a huge hunger games fan. I liked Twilight, but I didn't love it.

So glad that you had some fun and much needed girl time!

I hope it helped refresh your poor mama nerves!

I love that you're team Charlie! I'm totally on that team too!

I remember being so shocked when I learned the Forks is a real place. And La Push and the Quileuts and everything. I wanted to go there, but the only time I've been to Washington was a weekend trip to Seattle and Forks was a little out of the way.

The dumb thing is, I'm really not a Twilight fan...

Karen Peterson said...

Oh, but I AM Team Charlie. Which is one of the reasons I love you.
