So for some strange reason it's decided to snow here. Now, Oregon isn't really famous for snow, at least not the part that I live in.
We might get it a couple times a year but it's usually melted off before noon or never sticks in the first place. We hardly ever get it in March and especially not towards the end of March.
Wednesday morning we woke up to lots of it. Lots for us, anyway.
I thought it was gorgeous and we didn't have to go anywhere and the husband made it to work fine, so I was good.
It continued throughout the day and began to foil my plans.
Here's my background info and then I'll tell you the plans.
The kids last day of school was Tuesday. Wednesday was a teacher prep day for conferences which were yesterday and today. So 3 days off, then the weekend and then next week is Spring Break.
My plans:
Sleep in. (didn't happen.)
Referee fights. (as sanely as possible.)
Not lose my sanity.(highly unlikely.)
And...
Let the kids watch tons of TV. (totally irresponsible.)
Big Boy turned on the TV and guess what. No signal! Satellite covered in snow. Bleh.
That's okay. We have a Wii. And Netflix. I'll hook em up with Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer and all will be well.
About 1/3 of the way through the movie there's a loud pop outside and the power blinks. Everything comes back on except...
The Wii is fried. Like, done.
Not only am I pissed because Wiis are not cheap and I can't afford to replace it right now, but now the boys have nothing to watch. No TV. No Netflix. Unless I wanna forfeit my laptop. Um. No. This totally messes up my irresponsible plan to let them watch TV all day.
Now what? Well...the kids were going stir crazy, they'd played games, listened to music, fought with each other and me and were pretty much done. And guess what! They didn't want to play in the snow. Huh? I know, right?!
Anyway. This is when I decide I can maybe reach the satellite with a broom if I get a stool.
I tromp my huge butt outside in teal velour pants (i'm sexy and i know it.) and a navy blue Forks hoodie to fix it. I don't see the landscaping stones around the flowerbed because they're covered in snow. I trip. I completely biff it right on my ass.
Ouch.
Finally I get up and get the stool lined up and step up onto it. It sinks into the soggy ground by about 3 inches.
Fabulous.
Whatever, I'm in it now, I've already fallen so I have to try to get this.
I stand on the top step on my tippy toes and reach up and whack the broom onto the satellite. Woohoo! Snow is falling!
Right into my face.
Freaking snow.
Throw the broom into the stupid snow and go inside. Turn the TV on and it's trying to retrieve the the signal.
Waiting.
Oh, wait! It has to reset. Yay. Hours.
A few hours later we have TV!
A few hours later in which I have unsuccessfully refereed some fights where I lost my sanity. You see my plan didn't work.
So I didn't get to sleep in. Lost my sanity. Fell on my ass. Got snow in the face. Had my Wii blow up and still had to forfeit my computer.
So, yeah.
Really not lovin' the snow right now.
But I did get this pretty picture. Perfectly captures the pretty tree blossoms that were screaming, "Spring is coming!!!" and then getting muffled by snow. Stupid snow.

ps: i actually had to shovel the driveway so we could back out without sliding everywhere and taking out a telephone pole. i did not have fun and do not recommend it. stupid snow.

My girls played in it... for like five seconds. Uggghhh the hassle of getting them all dressed only to have them come back in the door minutes later & proclaim "I'm done in the snow Mom". Whaaaa REALLY? So yeah I'm with ya sista... Stupid snow :)
Sure was gorgeous falling all day though huh!
Ohhh & I totally referenced Sexy & I know it on my blog today too. LOL
boo that sounds terrible. I'm a Texas girl through and through. we don't do snow. if/when the Army stations us somewhere with heavy snow I just might die. for the record? teal sweatpants- I have a pair too.
That picture is awesome!
You better be more careful. You could have hurt yourself.
Teal velour pants!!! ;o) Love it!!
Hey...you saved the day in the end! I'm sad for you about the Wii casualty though. That was the only thing that got me through the girls sleepover last weekend, so I know how important a part it plays in retaining your sanity...
Stupid snow! I hate that white crap.
No more climbing up to clean the dish off for you young lady, your gonna hurt yourself :)
That picture is beautiful.
Amen, Sister! Preach it! Go away snow, and don't come back till next December!
I think we're actually going to escape the house today. Woodburn outlets, here we come! :)
my friend just moved to oregon and is not loving the snow! that pic is gorgeous, hope it all melts soon for you:)
Snow IS stupid!
That picture is seriously gorgeous though!
Please, please, PLEASE for the love of all that is holy, bring the teal velour pants to Utah!!
So.. I take it that it is pointless to ask you how you like snow :)
Teal velcour pants. Heehee
Yes that snow does look very wet-but very pretty. Sorry it ruined your plans. I do not miss snow at all.
Wow! Beautiful but stupid. The snow I mean!!!
I was going to suggest using a power hose and hosing off the snow... But then it would probably freeze on it and cause even worse damage, huh???
UGH!!! Stupid snow is right! And that really sucks about the Wii.
Stupid snow.
We don't have satellite anymore, but it used to be such a bummer when the satellite would get covered with snow or didn't work because of wind.
I cannot believe what has been happening out there - here its been in the mid eighties for two damn weeks - I love it but wasn't quite ready for the shorts!! The picture you took is BEAUTIFUL!!
I remember having to remove the snow from the dish. PIA.
I'm sitting here with all of the doors and windows open...thinking about having a beer on the patio.
Beautiful picture. We hardly ever have snow! It was in the 80's here all week.
I LOVE snow. But not now. Now it is spring and that freaking snow can just stuff it!
We western Oregonians are complete snow wimps. I lost power for two days so I just got a hotel room. Forget freezing, not flushing, etc. The bright spot: someone stamping 'Go Beavs' in huge letters in the middle of Autzen Stadium (which was then shown on the news). Awesome!
My lazy a$$ kids wouldn't have played in the snow either.
I don't have a dish, but I'm a total spaz so would have landed on my a$$ tooo... reminds of a post I should write. thanks.
Love the picture
I saw that on the news up here in Utah. Couldn't believe it. We were nice and sunny but you guys snowed. WOW. Your story cracked me up. LMBO. You guys obviously can do without the snow out there in the Ever so green Oregon. That picture you took is beautiful.
Macey I LOVE your blog. I can't get enough of it! You make me laugh out loud! Sorry about your Wii. That sucks. As at home moms we need to be able to plug in our kids. We don't have breaks in the day. The boys loved the snow. We went sledding, they built a snow man and they named him Bob (not sure where that name came from). Brandon even built a fort. It was a fun two days. I was sad to see it end. :( Cheers to you for climbing up that ladder to fix your TV. I wouldn't have done it. I am too much of a wimp. :)
I hate to shovel and have almost ran into my garage gunning it up over a snowy drive. I am sure my neighbors thing I am a bit crazy. Your pic is beautiful, makes it almost worth it I hope.
From the sound of this I thank God I have never seen snow!
that picture is beautiful! Yes there's been so much snow in oregon lately! My folks live on the coast and it's been sticking there. Craziness!
You are a brave women battling the snow like you did. I bet the kids were happy! I'm so sorry your wii died. That stinks! I recommend you plug all your fancy electronics into a surge protector. It might help for the future. Maybe it'll come back on after a cooling off period? Fingers crossed!
Your photo is gorgeous - and your post made me laugh. No snow here - but I spent the night and morning so far mostly in the restroom. Guess what? That thing my husband had that we thought was food poisoning? I'm thinking now it really wasn't.......thanks for sharing honey. I will take snow over sleeping on the bathroom floor! ha. thanks for the laugh!
There were people in MY neck of the woods with snow on their cars--they had been to the mountains...but still. I do not miss it. At all. So sorry.
Oh yeah! NOW I remember why I moved back to California!
Although our stupid satellite went out last night in a rain storm. I wanted cable, but nooooooo.
