Homemade Pizza Pockets

So last night I was trying to figure out what to do for dinner. The never ending question, really. I hate it.

I wanted to do something fun for the boys and get them involved in making it because they tend to eat better if they had a hand in cooking it.

I had some pre prepared pizza dough in the fridge but didn't want to do pizza because I wanted it more personalized, per se, for the kids.

Here's what I came up with:

I had some leftover pineapple and olives, spaghetti sauce (although i recommend using pizza sauce if you have it because, let's face it, pizza sauce is better.), pepperoni, cheese and the pizza dough.

Lay out the dough and cut into four strips.

Take those strips and cut them across the middle where you see that indent.

Take a spoonful of sauce and spread it on the dough.

Have your little one put what they want on the sauce and dough.

Fold the edges in.

Bake at whatever temp the dough says and for how long. Obviously I shouldn't have left it in the oven beyond the timer. Whoopsie, my bad. But I like my crust crispy, so, there's that...

The cheese is my favorite part.

There ya have it. A total cheater pants way of making your own pizza pockets. Or instead of folding these things closed, you could leave em and then they are like little personal pan pizzas!

And forgive my photography, I'm not sure they look that good with my lack of skills.

Awesome! We do mini calzones sometimes, or at least that's what I call them. That's a good idea for tomorrow nights dinner! Thanks!
Oh and sloppy joe sauce with cooked hamburger and cheese make a great filling for these little suckers too!

Excellent idea! Although...the spaghetti sauce in place of the pizza sauce is questionable. ;o) I love my pizza sauce!

This is brilliant! I make something similar with cheese, spinach, beans, and croissants, but now I'm going to have to do a pizza theme.

Oh, and that pic with the cheese made me totally drool.

I don't mind a good pocket, but it has to be full of the goodness that is pizza, otherwise, empty and a waste of money.

I LOVE melted cheese and it oozes all over the place. Can be bloody hot though and I've burnt my palette more than once on it.
