Kelley's Crafty!

Hi Living in France readers.. Im baaaaack!  Are you missing Mimi yet?  Ya.. me too.  Maybe this cute craft from my sons birthday will get her off your mind for a bit.

We just celebrated Avery's first birthday in April with an Anchors Away themed party.  It was a great day and I had so much fun making all the nautical decorations.  Today Im going to share with yall a simple dessert that the kids (and adults) loved.

Fishy Jell-O

You will need:
Blue Jell-O Mix
Swedish Fish
Clear Plastic Cups

Make your Jell-O according to the package.  We needed the Jell-O to set fast in order to put the fish inside without floating to the bottom so we tried the quick set instructions on the box.  It says to add ice and cold water to your Jell-O after it has cooled.  Well, we tried.. and it didnt work. So, we did it the old fashioned way, the fridge.

Here we are trying the quick set method.  It no workie.

We poured the mix into cups and stuck them in the fridge for about 30 minutes.  They were semi-set and perfect for adding the fish.

We found the best way to do add the fish was to hold one fish by its tail and push it half way in the cup.  Using another fish, finish pushing the first one into the cup and let that one hang out half way.  (I hope that makes sense!)    Continue this method until all your cups have fish in them.

The blue was a little dark but you can see the fish when you hold the cups up to the light.  I added mini pennant flags and served them with the cake.

A simple treat that defiantly added to the fun of the day!

See?  Im kinda crafty.  Wait.. Jell-O and swedish fish dont count as crafty?  Dang it!  I tried.  Mimi come back!

**note from mimi, the only way they would miss me in a craft post is the absence of cussing. crap, damn, hell, sonofa!! there. now it's like i was here.**

Also, come back Friday for Kelley's fabulous Mojito post!
