Have you ever watched a show or a movie and the lead character totally reminds you of someone you know in real life?
I have. I started watching this show on Netflix.
And then after only watching a few episodes I decide to tell my IRL friend that she reminds me of this character in this show.
And my friend is flattered because as I said, this character is "really pretty and the way she moves and talks is so chill," but then I left thinking, "Wait...I'm not sure she was that flattered."
So I continued to watch the show and realized this character is sort of a dirty skank. After a while she looks like the town bicycle...if ya know what I mean.
And then I started getting red in the face when I thought about it. Actually, I'm not sure if it's actually red but it sure feels hot and my ears feel like they're going to spontaneously combust.
Now I've caught up on all the seasons and I can firmly say that my initial impression was dead wrong and I owed my friend an apology.
So I sent her a text:
"Hey girl, remember how I said you reminded me of Nancy? It's because I thought she was going to be a lead character who had some decent (for tv) values (other than the whole selling marijuana to her neighbors thing). Didn't realize she was such a dirty whore. My bad."
To which I got this reply:
"It's all good. She IS pretty. Besides, I could totally be a neighborhood pusher...it's the whore thing that I couldn't do."
Yeah. So.
Weird, right?
Did you figure out which show I'm talking about?
In retrospect I probably should have realized that it wasn't a great character to compare someone to...although if I had to flub something so bad, at least it was to someone who totally understood my rationalization.
I think.
So my note to self is this:
Just keep yer mouth shut.
Tell me you've done something this stupid. Lie to me if you have to.

Nancy Botwin is a suburban widow who begins selling marijuana to support her family.

It sure as hell beats being compared to Shrek. Justsayin
I'm pretty familiar with the taste of shoe leather. Not so much recently, because I've been employing the Keep Your Mouth Shut rule. However my brain is full of those kinds of observations. It gets noisy in there sometimes.
Haha! If you're going to offend someone, netter it be a someone with a sense of humor. :o) At least she knew what your intentions were! I knew which show you were talking about, but I've never seen it. We are FAR too cheap to pay for special channels. :o)
hahahaha what a compliment! she's cute, I'd take it ;)
I'd still take it....whore or not!
LOL! That's really funny. I once compared my friend's brother to the brother on Wedding Crashers. You remember that really awkward guy who said, "ocean you are my bitch lover!" yeah...and the problem was, everyone completely agreed he looks just like him. And now that guy hates me for mentioning it!
The lead character in Brides Maids completely reminds me of my old ex BFF. She would get so jealous over other friends.
LOL..so glad I'm not the only one whose filter from brain to mouth is never fully on.
I was told (by TWO different people) that I'm like Drita on Mob Wives.
She's pretty, fit, and strong...and she is MEAN, and irrational, and MEAN.
And she's not funny at all.
Ow, my feelings.
You know, Mim, you remind me of a cute little dark-haired pixie I saw on this one MTV show they film at the Jersey shore...
(NOT!)
Lol! Well hey at least your friend could be a good pusher so you weren't totally off :)
LOL! I can't even tell you what I did once... But it insinuated something about myself to all of the college campus on their radio broadcast, which was totally not true! Yeah... good thing only about 2 people listened to that channel!
LOL LOL!! I guess you could have compared her to worse?? And I started watching that show when it first came out.. I didnt realize she would turn into a hoe. Go figure. I guess drug dealers just have no values. ;)
I told my sister-in-law once that her mom reminded me of a cartoon character.
I'm pretty sure she's never really gotten over it.
Could have been much worse and at least she "got" the comment. We all suffer from foot-in-mouth disease at times!
LOL, we all have our moments like this. More then once at times. You're friend's got a great sense of humor. Never watched that show before but then again, how can we when we don't even own a TV. HI hi hi.
oh yes...i have done this..again and again and again...
sounds like she is a chill friend!!
Hahahaha! To be fair, Nancy was pretty cool in the beginning.
